Time to reflect

Arjen SchutteMoments of truth

new year

How is your business? Typically such a question that you get at the Christmas dinner. Can you tell your latest business adventures with enthusiasm? And be proud of the results of the past year? Or do you have to answer something like “business as usual”, knowing that it didn’t really get along in the past year?

Towards the end of the year it is time for contemplation. Of course in your personal life, but certainly also about your company. Contemplation goes a bit further than coming up with the next step; then thinking about a plan for Q1 next year. No, this is the time to think outside-in and to brainstorm with colleagues and loved ones. What is happening around us? In society? In the markets? What does the competition do?

And then back to your company. What opportunities does this offer? What threats do you see? Sometimes small steps are not enough to really take your business further and make your dream come true. Sometimes you really have to dare to change more radically. Because otherwise the status quo continues. Or because you will be swept away by new initiatives that make your product superfluous. Dare to dream. Dare to think big. And look honest and realistic where you stand now.

Open-minded discussions during the Christmas dinner. Just be vulnerable and ask others what they think about your company, about opportunities and risks, about our world of tomorrow. And then full of fresh ideas and thoughts into the new decade!
